Located in Carterton and Martinborough, we offer dance classes for preschoolers through to adults.
Jacqui is a member of the NZ Association of Modern Dance and has been dancing for over 20 years. There are classes for all ages with specialised preschool classes.
All children who are involved in Jacqui Murray School of Dance have the opportunity to learn different types of dance in a fun and warm environment.
Exams are held mid-way through the year where the pupils are assessed against the NZAMD standards. These are optional however we do feel the children who take part become better dancers as a result.
Each year the dance school has a Cabaret performance held in November at the Carterton Events Centre. All the pupils are involved and it's a great end to the year.
Information on fees, uniform, and timetables are available on the Gallery and Further Information pages of the website. Some FAQ can be found below. Please contact us with any other suggestion of what you would like to see on our page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can my child start dancing any time of year?
New students can start during Terms 1 and 3 due to Exams and Cabaret.
What are the fees?
Fees start from $80/term. The fuill Fee Schedule is available to download from the website.
Where do we buy uniform?
All clothing is ordered from Jacqui, we recomment Dance2Go.co.nz for footwear. The link can be found on the website homepage. There is also second hand uniform available to buy.
Are exams compulsory?
Exams are entirely optional however students benefit by having the goal of an exam to keep them motivated, as well as learning about the discipline, dedication and hard work that is required to achieve the standards. We feel that dance exams provide a positive learning experience and give the students a sense of accomplishment.
We strongly encourage children are only entered for exams if they can be 100% committed. It is important they attend all classes including any extras that may be arranged by their teachers. The cost ranges from $30 - $96 which also may need to be taken in to consideration.
